While we don’t have major news to share this month, we are grateful to report that we have finally reached an important milestone in our transition process.
As many of you know, there were no interim ministers currently available within Salem Presbytery. After completing the required paperwork and receiving approval from Presbytery, our Ministry Discernment Profile has now been posted for ministers to view. Following nearly two months of waiting for the approval process to be completed, our profile was officially uploaded during the week of July 13. With that step behind us, we can now officially begin our search for an interim minister.
In the meantime, we continue to be blessed by a wonderful group of gifted supply pastors who are leading us in worship. Each brings unique gifts, perspectives, and experiences to our congregation, and we are thankful for their willingness to serve Sedgefield Presbyterian Church during this season. Their faithful leadership has been a reminder that God continues to provide for us, even while we wait.
We ask that you continue to pray for our Transition Team, for the ministers who may be discerning a call to Sedgefield, and for the person God is preparing to walk alongside us in this next chapter. God’s timing is often different from our own. Perhaps the person who is meant to serve our congregation isn’t ready quite yet. Perhaps this season is strengthening us as a church in ways we cannot yet see. Whatever the reason, we trust that God is already at work.
As we wait, we invite you to begin praying and dreaming about the future of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church. Who are we today? Who is God calling us to become? What might faithful ministry look like in 2030? How can we continue to serve our community, nurture meaningful relationships, and welcome new people into the life of our church?
These are not questions for the Transition Team alone—they belong to all of us. We encourage you to spend time reflecting on them and sharing your hopes and ideas in the months ahead. Together, with God’s guidance, we will discern the next chapter of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church.
