Worship at Sedgefield: Looking Ahead
There is a lot happening in the life of worship at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church as we move into the final months of the year! The Worship Committee has been busy preparing for the seasons ahead, and we are excited about the ways our congregation will worship, remember, celebrate, and come together.
Planning Ahead
As we continue through this season of transition, the Worship Committee has booked supply ministers through the remainder of the year, including our faithful and recurring supply ministers. We are grateful for the ministers who have continued to lead us in worship and help provide consistency and continuity for our congregation during this time.
Remembering Classie Meredith
A Memorial Service for Classie Meredith will be held at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service. We invite our church family to come together to remember and celebrate Classie’s life.
Something New for Our Children!
We are excited to announce the beginning of a Children’s Choir! Baker Lawrimore will be working with our children during part of the Sunday School hour as they learn, sing, and prepare to share their music with the congregation. The Children’s Choir will sing during worship on:
- Sunday, November 1 — All Saints Sunday
- Sunday, December 13 — Children’s Christmas Program
We are so excited to hear our youngest members’ voices filling the sanctuary!
Hanging of the Greens
It’s time to make Sedgefield beautiful for the Christmas season! Our Hanging of the Greens and church decorating will take place on:
Saturday, November 28
9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
There will be plenty to do, so all help is appreciated! Whether you love decorating, arranging, lifting, organizing, or simply working alongside your church family, come join us as we prepare our sanctuary and church for Advent and Christmas.
Advent Is Coming!
Advent begins on Sunday, November 29, and once again we will invite families from our congregation to participate in worship by lighting the Advent Wreath candles each Sunday during Advent. Be on the lookout for a sign-up opportunity—or for an invitation to participate! This is a simple but meaningful way for individuals and families to help mark our journey toward Christmas together.
A Very Special Christmas Celebration
Our Children’s Christmas Program will take place during our 11:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, December 13. We hope you’ll join us as our children share the Christmas story through music and worship. It promises to be a special morning for our whole church family.
Christmas Eve
And, of course, we will gather together to celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.
Christmas Eve Worship — Thursday, December 24
More details about the service will be shared as we get closer to Christmas.
As we look toward the final months of the year, we are reminded that worship is not simply something that happens on Sunday mornings. It is something we create and experience together—through music, prayer, remembrance, celebration, children sharing their gifts, families lighting candles, decorating our sanctuary, and gathering around the story of Christ’s birth.
We look forward to worshiping with you in the months ahead!
